Delft University of Technology is the oldest and largest technical university in the Netherlands, where more than 25,000 students and 6,000 employees work in collaboration with international research institutes and companies. The research group of Operations and Environment (O&E) is part of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering (AE), within the department of Control and Operations (C&O). The O&E research group has been involved in several European research projects aiming at reducing the climate impact of the aviation sector, and it is currently coordinating the BeCoM (Better Contrail Mitigation) project. One of the main research topics within the O&E group is modelling the environmental impact of aviation, including both CO2 and non-CO2 effects from aircraft emissions.
