WMO AeroMetSci Conference 2024

The Aeronautical Meteorology Scientific Conference -AeroMetSci 2024, organized by the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva, proved to be a fruitful event that brought together leading experts in atmospheric and meteorological sciences. The conference highlighted the importance of connecting researchers, policymakers, and industry representatives to address the intersection of climate science and aviation.

During the event, the F4EClim project coordinator, Sigrun Matthes, had the opportunity of presenting on the scientific basis of CO₂ and non-CO₂ effects from aviation, showcasing existing tools to address these impacts and mentioning ongoing research initiatives.

In her presentation, she introduced the recent launch of the exploratory research project supported by the SESAR Joint Undertaking under the European Green Deal Flagship, F4EClim. An initiative that focuses on exploring how to implement uncertainties in climate-optimized trajectory planning for aviation.

AeroMetSci Conference 2024 exemplified how bringing together interdisciplinary scientific communities can drive meaningful dialogue to create practical solutions for a more sustainable future. The F4EClim team look forward to continuing these conversations and contributing to the transformative research work ahead.
