We are delighted to share that Abolfazl Simorgh, Assistant Professor at the Aircraft Operations Lab (UC3M) and member of the F4EClim team, has been awarded second place in the 2025 SESAR Young Scientist Award.

The award ceremony took place during the SESAR Innovation Days 2025, held 1–4 December in Lake Bled, Slovenia, and hosted by Pipistrel and the University of Ljubljana.

His work on climate-friendly aircraft trajectory optimisation—integrating non-CO₂ climate effects into flight planning—originated within the FlyATM4E project, the predecessor of F4EClim, and exemplifies the scientific excellence and climate-focused innovation that F4EClim aims to foster. The jury recognised the research as highly relevant to air traffic management, highlighting its potential to support both structured and free-route airspace operations.

The entire F4EClim team warmly congratulates Abolfazl on this well-deserved recognition. His expertise and dedication are an invaluable contribution to our mission.
